Center City Celebration

After the announcement of Obama’s victory in the election late last night, Philadelphia had a reason to celebrate and riot in the streets for the second time this week. South Broad Street was lined with citizens of all ages and races shouting, dancing, and giving lots of high-fives.

Yes we did!

Temple students gathered onto the intersection of North Broad St. and Cecil B. Moore Ave. once the results came in that Obama is the 44th president of the United States. Much like the win of the World Series, hundreds of students from all Philadelphia campuses made the long trek from main campus to City Hall to celebrate the victory.

Sadiki’s, a restaurant at 72nd & Ogontz, hosted a election night party for local politicians, family and friends starting at 9 on Tuesday. An Obama crowd was on hand to celebrate the huge win.

On Broad Street

Dozens of Obama supporters packed Broad Street on election night with signs, posters, and banners celebrating this historical election. Cars honked and drivers cheered for Obama. Some of these people were out there for hours.
